Canon EF 50mm 1.4

Sun Jul 24, 2005, 11:30 PM
Hi guys, basically I have decided to buy the Canon EF 50mm 1.4 because I like the quality and I love the bokeh! So, I was wondering what your experiences have been with this lens; Is it safe to 'buy it now' from ebay for £200? And, do you have any examples of your work taken using this lens? Thanks..

I still invite you to take part in the poll, I have seen such a poll before but I just wanted to do my own survey..

So do you have your favourites 'Random' or 'Recent'? Please vote, and let me know your reasoning! Many thanks;

I would definitely say 'go for it'. My husband ~ceethru has had that lens for a year and a half and he absolutely loves it. It is his favorite lens, despite owning a few other lenses, he raves about the 50mm! Here's several links to shots that he took with his 50mm [link] , [link] , [link] , [link] . I guess it depends on what purpose you want the lens for. We definitely like it most for portraits and low light, or anytime that you want a nice shallow depth of field. (you might know all of this already, I just happened upon you by a comment you made to a friend of mine) Here's the one shot that I have in my gallery taken with the 50mm - [link] .

Hope that's helpful. Feel free to contact either one of us if you have any specific questions. ~ceethru knows alot more of the info, I'm learning most things from him. :-)

that is one awesome lens. I use 50's on old manuals, film and digital slrs. It is probably the most convenient lens ever. My 2nd love goes out to the 85mm f1.8, but that can't be used in every situation (sometimes there is no space).

anyways, most of my gallery is shot with either the 50 1.4, the 50 1.8, or the 85 1.8.
